Chat Messages: The text messages and questions you type in the AI chat feature ("AskQuran AI"). These are sent to a third-party AI service for processing (see Section 4).
Conversation History: Recent messages within your chat session are temporarily included for context when generating AI responses.
Bookmarks & Preferences: Your saved bookmarks, language preferences, theme settings, and font size preferences are stored locally on your device.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

This application does not require account creation for basic features.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or other personal identification unless you voluntarily provide it through support correspondence.
We do not send your personal identification (name, email, device ID) to third-party AI providers.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used for the following purposes:

Provide AI Chat Service: Your chat messages are sent to Google Gemini to generate AI-powered responses about Islamic knowledge based on the Quran and authentic Hadith.
Maintain App Functionality: To provide and maintain the core application services, including Quran reading, bookmarking, and topic browsing.
Improve User Experience: To enhance app functionality and address performance issues.
Monitor & Debug: To detect technical issues and improve app stability.
Manage Subscriptions: To process in-app purchases and manage premium subscription status.

4. AI-Powered Features & Third-Party Data Sharing

The AskQuran AI chat feature uses a third-party AI service to process your questions and generate responses. Before using the AI chat feature for the first time, you will be asked to review and consent to this data sharing.

4.1 What Data Is Sent to the AI Service

When you interact with the AI-powered chat feature, the following data is sent to the AI service:

System Instructions	Pre-defined instructions that direct the AI to respond based on the Quran and authentic Hadith (this does not contain any user data)

4.2 What Data Is NOT Sent to the AI Service

Your name, email address, or any personal identification
Your device ID or unique identifiers
Your location data
Your bookmarks, reading history, or app preferences
Any payment or subscription information

4.3 Who Receives This Data

Your chat messages are sent to Google LLC via the Google Gemini API (Generative AI service). Google processes this data solely to generate AI-powered responses within the app.

4.4 Purpose of Data Sharing

Data is shared with Google Gemini solely to provide the AI chat functionality — specifically, to generate responses about Islamic knowledge based on the Quran and authentic (sahih) Hadith. The data is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than generating the AI response.

4.5 User Consent

Before using the AI chat feature for the first time, you will be presented with a clear disclosure explaining what data is shared, who it is shared with, and for what purpose. You must explicitly agree to this data sharing before the AI feature becomes available. Your consent is stored locally on your device.

In addition to the AI service described above, our application uses the following third-party services:

6. Data Storage & Security

Most of your app data (bookmarks, preferences, chat history, consent status) is stored locally on your device using the browser's local storage. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

The security of your data is important to us. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

Local Data: Your preferences, bookmarks, and chat history are stored on your device and persist until you clear the app data or uninstall the application.
AI-Processed Data: Chat messages sent to Google Gemini are processed in real-time to generate responses. For information on Google's data retention practices for the Gemini API, please refer to the Google Gemini API Terms.
Subscription Data: Subscription and purchase information is managed by RevenueCat and Apple and is subject to their respective data retention policies.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary action.

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access & Delete Local Data: You can clear all app data (bookmarks, chat history, preferences) at any time by clearing the app's local storage or uninstalling the app.
Withdraw AI Consent: You can withdraw your consent to AI data processing by clearing the app data. Upon re-opening the chat feature, the consent dialog will appear again.
Manage Subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscriptions through your Apple ID settings.
Request Information: You can contact us at any time to request information about what data we process.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
